What are you currently reading? “Affliction” by Laurell K. Hamilton (So far it’s the best that I have read in a long time by her, and I appreciate the fact that it’s almost 600 pages long! <3)

What did you recently finish reading? “We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed by our families: Stories from Rwanda” by Philip Gourevitch

What do you think you’ll read next? “Joyland” by Stephen King that my husband bought for me the same day I got “Affliction” 🙂 I wanted to read a book that I had got sent to read and review from a Goodreads Author but it’s not letting me send it to my Kindle for some reason…:(

What are you currently reading? “We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families: Stories from Rwanda” by Philip Gourevitch (This book about the genocide of the Tutsis by the Hutus…yea, I didn’t know the names myself until I started reading, but it’s very interesting hearing about things that were happening all the way in Rwanda when I was a young kid…and very sad, too.)

What did you recently finish reading? “Ribsy” by Beverly Cleary (Yes, it was a kid’s book, but it was a fun, easy read and super cute!)

What do you think you’ll read next? “When life gives you lemons, at least you won’t get scurvy!” by Madge Madigan (That is if I can get it sent to my Kindle! I got a free copy to review by request through a Goodreads club and it sounds hilarious!) 🙂

What are you currently reading? “Ribsy” by Beverly Cleary…yes, it’s a kid’s book, but I got it at a garage sale last week and I felt like reading it! 🙂 So far, it’s really cute!

What did you recently finish reading? “Fast food nation: The dark side of the All-American Meal” by Eric Schlosser

“Kiss me in Paris” by Kimberly Kinrade and Dymtry Karpov-Kinrade (Absolutely awesome book! As someone who is NOT a fan of romance books, this book didn’t even seem like one to me. It was just amazing! For my full review, go here!)

What do you think you’ll read next? “We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families: Stories from Rwanda” by Philip Gourevitch (I am waiting on this book from Booksfree to get here, so if it doesn’t get here soon, I will have to find something else to read first…otherwise, this is what I am reading next)

What are you currently reading? I have not actually got a chance to start it yet, but I will in a bit…”Kiss me in Paris” by Kimberly Kinrade(It officially comes out next week, but I am doing a beta read for it and I only hope I will actually be able to finish the book by tomorrow night, which is when I think they need it read by…aahhh!

What did you recently finish reading? “The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1)” by Jasper Fforde (loved it, can’t wait to read more!)

“Dreams from the Monster Factory: A tale of prison, redemption, and one woman’s fight to restore justice to all” by Sunny Schwartz (this was a book I borrowed from my Mom before she even read it. She got it from the Dollar Store and it sounded interesting to me. It was definitely a book that makes you think!)

What do you think you’ll read next? I may end up changing my mind, but I’ve really been wanting to read “Fast Food Nation: The Dark side of the All-American Meal” by Eric Schlosser (I got it a while back at a thrift store and I really think I want to read it next, but who knows?)

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… • What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next? What are you currently reading? “The Eyre Affair(Thursday Next)” by Jasper Fforde (I am loving this book! I originally picked up the newest one in the series from my library because of the title and when I realized it was a series, I returned it unread since I wanted to start at the beginning. It’s a series about Thursday Next(that’s the girls name), who is a detective in Special Ops as a LiteraTec(Literary Detective). In other words, they deal with book related crimes, which is actually more extreme than it sounds. If you LOVE words and books as much as me, I recommend checking this series out. I am excited to read more of these books!)

What did you recently finish reading? “You suck: A love story” by Christopher Moore

“No stone unturned: The true story of the World’s Premier Forensic Investigators” by Steve Jackson

What do you think you’ll read next? I don’t really know for sure….I have so MANY books to choose from and will just have to decide when I finish what I’m reading now!

*P.s. I just realized last week, I didn’t change the date from the week before, so my post read May 22nd instead of June 5th….sorry!*

I am literally like 20 pages away from the end!)

wcToday was the first theme day of the Blogathon and it asked, “What are your 5 favorite apps?” So without further ado….(did I say that right?), here are my 5 favorites! (This is on my Kindle, NOT my phone)

1. “Words with Friends”-LOVE this game and love playing it against people……but for some reason my husband is the only one who seems to ever play anymore 😦

2. “WordPress”- Yep…the app for WordPress 😉 I use it to check my comments and post my blog occasionally…and share my post to Facebook if I’m not near the computer!

3.”Myfitnesspal”-I have been using this for months to keep track of my calories, my weight and my inches. It’s really simple to use and so much easier than writing things down daily!

4.”SongPop”-I have the Free version but I don’t really see or rather, hear the difference. I’m obsessed with this game and only wish it didn’t take so long for people to play their turns!

5. “Scramble with Friends”-Another word game I love, but can’t find enough people that stick with playing it against me….at least this one sometimes has challenges that you can play alone! (Obviously you can tell my favorite apps are mostly short played games on my Kindle!)

What did you recently finish reading?  “And Eternity”(Book 7 of Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony

“How to talk to girls at parties” by Neil Gaiman(this was…ok…but too short for me and I’m not as big of a fan of this as his other novels.)

I started reading “You know what they say: The truth about popular beliefs” but only about 30 pages in, I decided to not waste my time. It was written in 1991 so it’s outdated and besides that, I just found it really boring. I can’t remember the last time I gave up on a book but I just felt like there were other books more exciting to move on to! Since I didn’t finished this, I just completely removed it from any shelves on Goodreads and didn’t rate it as I thought it would be unfair due to me not finishing it.

What do you think you’ll read next? I have no clue because my next shipment from Booksfree hasn’t shipped and I am almost done with the book I am on now. We will just have to see….

readingchallDay 29-A book everyone hated but you liked

Technically, there’s no book out there I know of that EVERYONE but me hated…but I will play along and pick one where the consensus on Goodreads seems to have been negative but I disagreed. 🙂

I skimmed through my Goodreads and decided to go with “The Raising” by Laura Kasischke, which was a book I read last year because I saw it featured on Goodreads and it sounded interesting. I really enjoyed it and rated it a 5 but the average rating is a mere 3.27. Granted there WERE some books on my “Read” that were rated as low as 2.29 BUT most of those I pretty much agreed with or at least enough to offer a 5 rating. As an extra fun thing, I decided to look at the lowest rated book on my “To Read” list and add it here as well: The lowest rated book currently on my “To Read” list ranks in at a 2.61 and it’s “The Almost Moon” by Alice Sebold, who you may recognize as the author of “The Lovely Bones”. I OWN “The Lovely Bones” and have seen the movie, but have yet to read the book. I wonder if I will agree with the low rating once I read this…

What did you recently finish reading? “For love of evil”(Book 6 of Incarnations of Imm0rtality) by Piers Anthony

What do you think you’ll read next? “How to talk to girls at parties” by Neil Gaiman (this was free from pre-order about a month ago so I ordered it and it JUST got sent to my Kindle about a week ago so I’m going to read this next. It’s a short story, so it won’t take long!)

readingchallDay 22-Book you’re currently reading

It’s funny how this is the question today of all days when I already say what I’m reading…so I’m not going to repeat myself. See above for the answer! 😉

What did you recently finish reading? This is a shocker, but nothing! First time this year that I haven’t finished a book since the previous week. But I’m at 64 books read this year out of my targeted 150 so I think I’ll be fine. 🙂

readingchallDay 15-Favorite Male Character

I HAVE to go with the first one that pops in my head and that is Edward(a.k.a. Death) the monster hunter from Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake, Vampire Slayer series. He’s not the romantic type that most girls seem to go for in books. He’s mysterious, he’s cold hearted and he’s not in most of the books, but there’s just something about his character that wants to know more about him and read about him more! I really wish she would put him in more of the books!

What are you currently reading? Haven’t started YET but will later on today…”For love of Evil”(Book 6 of  Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony

What did you recently finish reading? “Neverwhere” by Neil Gaiman(Loved it! Glad Dayle told me about it being so great so I would move it up on my reading list! Wish there was a whole series!)

“The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster(I had watched the movie as a kid but never read the book. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait until I have kids to read it!)

“Bloodsuckers:The Vampire Archives, Vol.1” by Various Authors, Edited by Otto Penzler

readingchallDay 8-Most Overrated Book

The book, or rather series, that I’m going to choose may make some of my friends mad at me, but I HAVE read the entire series and was a big fan myself so I feel like I can honestly pick it. “The Twilight Series” by Stephenie Meyer…yep. I admit to reading the books well before the movie came out. I started reading them during a time when I was out of state staying with family and working at a preschool, had run out of books to read,(Heaven forbid!) and saw “Twilight” sitting out. I read the back cover and thought it might be interesting so I read it…and I liked it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I still like the books, but at the same time, I don’t think they are these amazing, stupendously written books. I take them for what they are. Young adult books dealing with paranormal characters, some cheesy romance and teen aspects. I happen to like young adult books. Maybe I’m just being nostalgic, but I like them. I like them the same way I sometimes like what’s called, “Chick Fiction” like Sophie Kinsella or Jane Green. Easy, fun reads that I can get through easily and don’t have to think TOO hard. That being said, ever since the movies have come out, the whole series has taken out the form of this masterfully great series that’s so wonderful and honestly, it’s overrated, to me. I personally don’t like the movies….I think the books were better, but maybe it was just putting the books to movies that made me see HOW teeny bopper they really were in the first place? I just don’t know….I’ve also read “The Hunger Games” AND seen the first movie of that and I still love both of them. Just think the “Twilight” series has been blown up as way bigger than what they really were.

Having said THAT, I do want to clarify that I LOVE Stephenie Meyer’s adult novel, “The Host” and think it IS a great story, way better than the “Twilight” series. I’ve heard bad things about the movie, though, so kind of scared to see what movie people did with it. 😦
