{October 2, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:SUNSET

Picture Courtesy of Windows XP Desktop

Yes, this was a picture that came from my computer and not my own, but it’s a pretty Sunset, isn’t it? ๐Ÿ™‚

The rest of the pictures are my very own, though!

Picture my husband had in the newspaper last October

Picture of a Sunset back in July

And as an added bonus; Because this theme reminded me of a beautiful song I actually sang once when I was in A.C. Singers, here is the chorus of “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof.

Sunrise, sunset (x2),
Swiftly flow the days.

Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers,
Blossoming even as we gaze.

Sunrise, sunset (x2),
Swiftly fly the years,
One season following another,
Laiden with happiness and tears.

{September 25, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:FALL

This ย year in Texas will look more like Summer should look due to the lack of rain and all the fires, therefore I’m posting pictures taken last year during the Fall season.

{August 30, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:UP

Up….this could be the sky or the ceiling, a way of feeling, if you’re upside down, UP could be the floor, Up could be a destination or your present location. You might be heading up of your own accord or against your wishes. UP as a photo theme has unlimited options….just as UP could have unlimited meanings.

For some reason, after I got the Disney movie “Up” out of my thoughts, I immediately switched to the saying of “Word Up”. I remember hearing this saying various times as a child AND as a teen. Urban Dictionary has a lot of snazzy definitions for it…..Such as, “Yeah, that’s right”, acknowledgment of approval and “I comprehend what you are saying and verify that your statement is true, my good brother.”ย <—That last one seems too sophisticated to have come from anyone I remember overusing the saying, “Word Up”, but hey…whatever you say, Urban Dictionary.

In order of this theme and the saying “Word Up”, I am putting a picture of me as a child that I believe fully epitomizes the meaning of cool and feeling “Up”.

“Word Up, dude!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Was I a cool kid or what?

{August 25, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:FLOWERS

Apparently, I don’t take pictures of flowers very often…shame on me, right?!

I do have loads of pics of me wearing floral clothes, though….so I guess that will have to do for now!

My WWW Wednesday for this week has been canceled. I haven’t got any further in reading any books since last week so I thought it would be useless to do one this week. Maybe I will have more of a chance to do some reading THIS week.

There are many mountains out there, some the actual physical ones and some are metaphorical mountains that we have to climb. I live in an area where there aren’t even many hills so I can’t just go outside and take pictures of big, beautiful mountains like I see on the Television and since my artistic abilities do not extend to painting or drawing, I can’t draw or paint a mountain for you. I did find a few pictures that I felt qualified that were taken back on my honeymoon and then I made my own “mountain” creatively.

On the right, you can see tops of "mountains" or hills....

Another view

Would you believe this was about 15 minutes from skyscrapers and big buildings?

And for the last picture, I “aired my dirty laundry”, so to speak. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A mountain of laundry!

{August 1, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:Broken

Maybe my view of some of the themes is a bit unique and different from what others may come up with but I just wasn’t quite interested in taking photos of broken items I may find around me and posting them. Maybe this is a fault of mine that I don’t like taking photos of broken things…..Instead I decided to do things my own way. Hopefully others can appreciate my different take on the theme.

One aspect of the word Broken means “not functioning properly or being out of order”. Due to suffering from depression, my brain doesn’t function properly or in order so it fits this definition.

Medicine to fix a "broken" mind

Since I can’t do an X-ray of my own head and show a chemical imbalance or anything of that nature, I photographed medicine that I take to help fix the problem. This doesn’t completely fix it, in and of itself, though. It’s just a small fix for a bigger problem.

My next and last photo of this theme doesn’t necessarily fit the theme of Broken except in a humorous sense.

104 degrees past 6 at night....the temperature NOT counting heat index, yuck!

This photo was taken off my computer just a little while ago…..the sun is setting and it’s still over 100 degrees. I can’t say it’s unusual because I live in Texas and it’s normal for it to be HOT in August but sometimes you look at the temperature and think the thermometer must be broken….surely it couldn’t be that hot! Well, it is and nothing is broken. If your AC breaks in this weather, let’s hope you are able to get it fixed soon or find somewhere cool to stay though.

This has been my serious and not so serious take on the theme this week. Enjoy the rest of your Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Please enjoy my post of Colorful photos….Hopefully the bright colors will speak for themselves! ๐Ÿ™‚

{July 21, 2011}   Weekly Photo Challenge:HOT

Here’s my short interpretation of the photo challenge this week.

Artificial fire from a lighter

Blue fire from a different lighter

I don’t like smoking or that my husband smokes but when I couldn’t come up with any good pictures that seemed to match the theme, I decided to take a picture of fire from a couple of my husband’s lighters. Not the most professional looking pictures but the fire is definitely HOT.
