What do you think you’ll read next? “Lost in a good book” (#2 in Thursday Next series) by Jasper Fforde

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… • What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next? What are you currently reading? “Affliction” by Laurell K. Hamilton (So far it’s the best that I have read in a long time by her, and I appreciate the fact that it’s almost 600 pages long! <3)

What did you recently finish reading? “We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed by our families: Stories from Rwanda” by Philip Gourevitch

What do you think you’ll read next? “Joyland” by Stephen King that my husband bought for me the same day I got “Affliction” 🙂 I wanted to read a book that I had got sent to read and review from a Goodreads Author but it’s not letting me send it to my Kindle for some reason…:(

{May 28, 2013}   Day 28 of Reading Challenge

readingchallDay 28-Favorite Title

I think I’m going to go with the book that I am now reading. “Strange Candy” by Laurell K. Hamilton. So far, I am really loving the short stories but I have to say, I also LOVE the title. It’s very mysterious and even if I had never heard of her or her books, if I saw this book with the title, I would probably pick it up and read it based on that alone. It just sounds so mysterious and forbidden, like Halloween Candy that might have been tainted by evil. The title alone makes you intrigued to find out just what kind of short stories fit the idea of “Strange Candy”. As someone who hasn’t almost read the entire book, I will say I think the stories do the title justice. Take with that what you will. 😉

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… • What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next? What are you currently reading? “For love of evil”(Book 6 of Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony (Almost done, just haven’t read as much this week!)

What did you recently finish reading? This is a shocker, but nothing! First time this year that I haven’t finished a book since the previous week. But I’m at 64 books read this year out of my targeted 150 so I think I’ll be fine. 🙂

What do you think you’ll read next? “And Eternity” (Book 7 of Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony

I HAVE to go with the first one that pops in my head and that is Edward(a.k.a. Death) the monster hunter from Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake, Vampire Slayer series. He’s not the romantic type that most girls seem to go for in books. He’s mysterious, he’s cold hearted and he’s not in most of the books, but there’s just something about his character that wants to know more about him and read about him more! I really wish she would put him in more of the books!

Day 4-Favorite Book of your Favorite Series

Well, yesterday, I picked my favorite series as the “Anita Blake, Vampire Slayer” series by Laurell K. Hamilton so that means today, I will be picking my favorite book out of this series. The minute I got about a quarter in to the book, “Obsidian Butterfly”, I already knew it was going to be a favorite and none of the books since have been as GREAT as that one for me. This was #9 in the series and I love it so much because it’s full of action and suspense and there’s just so MUCH happening. It also has a lot of one of my favorite characters, Edward, in it. With Book #21 in the series coming in June, I believe, no other book since #9 has been as full of action and excitement for me the way that one has. A part of me holds out hope that another one will come along and be just as exciting. I still continue to LOVE the series, but for now, #9 will remain my favorite.

As always, you may answer these questions in your own post or in the comments section!

This 5 Question Friday was brought to you by:

On to the questions!

*The blog I got this from is NOT doing a 5QF this week so I took the liberty of finding a random OLD 5QF that was done way before I started doing them. These are the questions from the May 7th, 2010 post.*

1. What is your next home improvement goal? Just cleaning in general, I guess…I can’t really do anything major to my house cause it’s an apartment

2. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be? No religious texts (ie Bible, Quran, Torah, etc, etc)… I’m sorry but I refuse to answer this…the idea of only reading ONE book for the rest of my life is horrific, I can’t even choose! I would go insane! A world where this was the reality is NOT one I could live in!

3. What is on top of your refrigerator? Bread, some chips that have been there for awhile(hint to my hubby!) and croutons…not sure what else…too lazy to go look!

4. What are your favorite or most used phone apps? I don’t use too many since I got my Kindle….I prefer to do most things on it and leave my phone for texting and talking but I do use my WordPress app a lot to check if there are any comments 🙂

5. What’s the one thing you hate most about your spouses job? I don’t really hate anything about it….I just wish he would get busy working more so he could bring in some more dough! LOL I swear I’m not trying to pick on him…it’s just the questions that are being asked!

*30 Day Reading Challenge*

readingchallDay 3-My Favorite Series

I’m going to go with the first one that popped into my head when I saw today’s prompt. The “Anita Blake, Vampire Slayer” Series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I have many favorites, though, but I especially love the fact that this series keeps going and going, like the Energizer bunny. LOL AND I got into it when over a dozen were already out so I didn’t have to wait too long for a lot of them either. My niece/best friend Rebekah got me into this series when she talked me into reading the first book and then loaned me the other ones. I am SO glad she did! Tomorrow will be my fav. book of THIS series so see you then if you want to find out which one I pick and why! 🙂

  1. Welcome to my Spotlight Sunday! Every Sunday I put someONE or someTHING I love IN the Spotlight!

Anyone is welcome to use the idea on their own blog and spotlight whoever or whatever THEY choose, but if you do, please use my lovely graphic that my friend made somewhere in your post to show that the idea came from here! And I would love it if you left the link in my comments, so I could go check out what YOU spotlighted!

Books are very much on my mind at the moment as I impatiently await tomorrow and the start of our library’s annual book sale. When I considered things to spotlight, nothing else came to me except for thoughts of books….so I decided to just do a short and simple spotlight today listing some of my favorite books. This is NOT a full list because my brain can’t remember ALL my favorite ones. This is just a short list of 10 of my favorites..which means the favs. that come off the top of my head right now! 🙂

10 Favorite Books!

  1. “Rebecca” by Daphne Du Maurier
  2. “Obsidian Butterfly(Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter,#9) by Laurell K. Hamilton
  3. “Flowers in the Attic” by V.C. Andrews (NOT ashamed to be a fan of V.C. Andrews!
  4. “Forbidden Mind Trilogy” by Kimberly Kinrade
  5. “Under the Dome” by Stephen King
  6. “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a world that can’t stop talking” by Susan Cain
  7. “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern
  8. “Hiding in Sunshine” by John and Caitlin Stuart
  9. “The Stranger Beside me:Ted Bundy” by Ann Rule
  10. “Where the Sidewalk ends” by Shel Silverstein rebecca

So…there you have it! 10 of my Favorite books of all! I linked them all to Goodreads so if any of them sound interesting to you, you can go read some more and add them to your reading lists, if you so choose! 🙂
