To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… • What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next? What are you currently reading? “Ribsy” by Beverly Cleary…yes, it’s a kid’s book, but I got it at a garage sale last week and I felt like reading it! 🙂 So far, it’s really cute!

What did you recently finish reading? “Fast food nation: The dark side of the All-American Meal” by Eric Schlosser

“Kiss me in Paris” by Kimberly Kinrade and Dymtry Karpov-Kinrade (Absolutely awesome book! As someone who is NOT a fan of romance books, this book didn’t even seem like one to me. It was just amazing! For my full review, go here!)

What do you think you’ll read next? “We wish to inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families: Stories from Rwanda” by Philip Gourevitch (I am waiting on this book from Booksfree to get here, so if it doesn’t get here soon, I will have to find something else to read first…otherwise, this is what I am reading next)

As always, you may answer these questions in your own post or in the comments section!

This 5 Question Friday was brought to you by:

On to the questions!

1. Do you wake before the alarm or stay in bed until the last possible second? I normally don’t have a set time I NEED to wake up but when I use an alarm, I tend to wake up when it goes off, not before. Today, however, I woke up 35 minutes before it went off(cause I had to use the bathroom!) and stayed up.

2. Who should get a baby shower? Is it just the first baby or all babies? Well, I think mainly just the first baby, but I think there are good reasons to sometimes break that rule. For instance, if a family had a baby and then didn’t have the next until so long after that they had already gotten rid of all or most of their stuff. OR if a family has gone through some disaster and lost a lot or all of their stuff. In those cases, and others that I probably didn’t even think of, it makes sense. If however, a person has a baby then has the next a year after, then I think it’s kind of ridiculous(even if the baby is a different sex than the first). Friends and family can still give gifts for each baby, nothing wrong with that…but a baby shower for each consecutive baby is a little much, in my personal opinion.

3. How will you spend Memorial Day? Probably taking my Mom to run some errands as I usually do on Monday and then coming home to just hang out at my house with my husband.

4. Do you have a Storm/Hurricane/Tornado/Fire plan for your kids, house..? No, not a specified written plan….maybe when I have kids, I will actually get one done…but for now, I guess I’m too lazy. 😦

5. What is your favorite morning drink? Well, I don’t like Coffee or Tea…Over 10 months ago, I would say Mountain Dew cause that’s pretty much all I drank. Now I just drink water ALL the time with those drink mixes so I don’t really have a choice in what I pick here…

Day 24-A book that you wish more people would have read

This is an easy one! I have to say anything by Kimberly Kinrade, but overall the WHOLE “Forbidden Trilogy”. It’s in the same vein as a lot of these other books that have been turned into movies lately, for instance, “The Hunger Games” but better, in my honest opinion. I know other people through her Street Team and her launch parties that love this trilogy BUT I don’t have any really super close friends or family that have ever read it and that makes me sad. 😦 I would love it if they all read it too and loved it as much as I did so we could share the love together! AND getting Kimberly more loyal fans would be awesome for her too as she truly deserves it. I would love it if “Forbidden Trilogy” was made into movies too!

Just had to share the news that I became a Great Aunt again this morning! My new great niece was born this morning weighing 6 pounds, 15 oz. and measuring 20 1/4 inches long! Her name is Alexia Ann and she is beautiful; she looks just like her momma! I am a proud Great Aunt and I wish I didn’t have to wait until Christmas to meet her!

readingchallDay 14-Book from your favorite writer

This doesn’t specify a favorite book but I’m assuming that’s what it meant. Yesterday, I picked my favorite “new” writer as Kimberly Kinrade. Out of all her books that I have read so far, I’m going to have to go with the “Forbidden Trilogy” even though that’s technically 3 books. It’s the first three books of hers I read and what got me hooked and interested in reading more of her books. And no…I’m NOT biased because my review shows up in the description on Goodreads! I was shocked when I saw it there the first time, though! 🙂

Come back tomorrow for my WWW Wednesday and find out my Favorite Male Character in a book! 😉

This is going to be a short post as far as weight loss news. I’m stuck. 😦 My weight actually went up during the week last week due to the “unwanted visitor” and now I’m back down again but not at any loss yet. But good news is I measured and I’m done another 1 1/2 inches from the last month, which puts me at 35.5 inches lost since July 2012! Yay for that and here’s hoping I can have a drop next week!

readingchallDay 13-Your favorite writer

This is like asking a mother who her favorite child is! Even IF I could pick a favorite writer today, it would probably change the next day depending on my mood. I have many favorites for different reasons and I honestly can’t answer this. I WILL give an answer for my newest favorite writer, though. The newest one I have added to my long list of favorites is Kimberly Kinrade. I found her through reading Ebooks and am now friends with her on Facebook and part of her Street Team. I have read a lot of Ebooks, but she is the first that I’ve actually talked with(on FB) and felt connected with. She’s not only a great writer but she is so awesome to her fans and truly appreciates them. Tomorrow you will find out my favorite book from her since I’m changing it up to be my newest favorite writer.

Lost 2 more pounds since last week, which puts me at 82 pounds lost! I was born in ’83 so that’s why I put my post title as what it is. 🙂 Getting closer to that 100 pound mark I SO dream of and in about 3 months, I’ll have been on this journey for a year! What an awesome thing if I could hit 100 in just a year! Even if I don’t, I still feel like I have come so far these 9 months and I am so excited for what my future holds!

Before I bid everyone adieu until tomorrow, I want to send out Happy Birthday wishes to my step-mother-in-law Kristine and my newest favorite author, Kimberly Kinrade! Not sure if either of them will see this but I want to wish them both a very Happy Birthday! 🙂

  1. Welcome to my Spotlight Sunday! Every Sunday I put someONE or someTHING I love IN the Spotlight!

Anyone is welcome to use the idea on their own blog and spotlight whoever or whatever THEY choose, but if you do, please use my lovely graphic that my friend made somewhere in your post to show that the idea came from here! And I would love it if you left the link in my comments, so I could go check out what YOU spotlighted!

Books are very much on my mind at the moment as I impatiently await tomorrow and the start of our library’s annual book sale. When I considered things to spotlight, nothing else came to me except for thoughts of books….so I decided to just do a short and simple spotlight today listing some of my favorite books. This is NOT a full list because my brain can’t remember ALL my favorite ones. This is just a short list of 10 of my favorites..which means the favs. that come off the top of my head right now! 🙂

10 Favorite Books!

  1. “Rebecca” by Daphne Du Maurier
  2. “Obsidian Butterfly(Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter,#9) by Laurell K. Hamilton
  3. “Flowers in the Attic” by V.C. Andrews (NOT ashamed to be a fan of V.C. Andrews!
  4. “Forbidden Mind Trilogy” by Kimberly Kinrade
  5. “Under the Dome” by Stephen King
  6. “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a world that can’t stop talking” by Susan Cain

{March 26, 2013}   Angels in Disguise

I believe in Angels. In fact, I’d like to believe that not only do Angels watch over us on Earth but that are people who are in a way, angels, in disguise. The ones who go above and beyond, who do for others over themselves, the ones who are always around to lend a helping hand or a listening ear; these are angels on Earth that have yet to earn their wings.

A few weeks ago, I believed I met one of these angels on Earth, although this person might disagree with me. Just another sign of a true Angel: humility. You may disagree yourself with me, but in my eyes I met an angel.

My devoted readers know I love to read and you MAY know that I have recently become a huge fan of an Indie writer named Kimberly Kinrade. I love her books and when she releases a new Ebook, I try to get each and every one. Awhile back, she started a new thing called, “A Gathering of Tales” where you can sign up to get sneak peeks of her books and short stories every month BEFORE they go public. I was excited about this and planning to join and at $15 for a regular year membership, it wasn’t exactly UNaffordable, but I just didn’t have the disposable income to get it right NOW, you know? Which was fine, because I had every intention to set aside money when I could and get it later on down the road. And I let her now I really WANTED to join but I would have to save money first. End of story..or was it?

Not too long after I said that on the public wall, I got an instant message from Kimberly letting me know that a mysterious benefactor had seen my message and paid for my membership for a year. My first reaction was…Are you serious? I was in shock! Then my second reaction was to almost cry, literally. I barely held tears back. I just couldn’t believe a complete stranger would do that! Some may argue that $15 isn’t that big of a deal, but for people on tight budgets, it IS! For someone who doesn’t even know me to spend $15 of THEIR hard earned money on ME, for whatever reason, just incredibly stunned AND touched me. I WAS told the benefactor later and I thanked her, but I’m not sure any of my words could really come close to describing how I really felt.

OK, so someone didn’t donate money to help me survive a disease or something. It was a $15 membership for an author, which some might roll their eyes at and think, Big Deal! Well….it was a big deal for me and it made my day AND reminded me of how there are still good people in this world that care, even if you don’t know it. A complete stranger CARED about me. So, to me, my benefactor WAS an Angel on Earth and in disguise.

On another note, I also learned more about myself through the experience. One of the reasons behind the gifting, I was later told, had to do with me seeming “nice” when I post on the wall and talk to others. Who knew there was a complete stranger reading comments that had taken notice of MY comments and by my demeanor, judged me as a nice person? I guess it goes to show that people are really watching you ALL the time, even when you might not realize it, and your actions (even when you think no one is paying attention or cares) really DO matter. This makes me really take inventory of myself and how I act not only on FB or my blog but in the real world. Someone is going to be watching and while I LOVE that people have found me “nice” based on my posts in a group on FB, I also would love for everyone I come into contact with to think of me this way OR at least in a positive light. I try to be a good, nice person and when someone else sees me for that, I feel fulfilled and happy. There’s going to be people out there that judge you wrong, yes, and people that won’t like you regardless of what you do, but only you have control of YOU and how you act and react. Live your life where you can be proud of how you lived it!

And to the “Angel in disguise” who has gifted me, if she ever reads this, thanks again for reminding me of the good!

What are you currently reading? “He’s just not that into you: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys” by Greg Behrendt (Yes, I’m married but I got this book from a thrift store, it’s a short read AND who as a woman, understands guys? I think it will be fun to read and see if I agree or not!)

What did you recently finish reading?  “My mother she killed me, My father he ate me: Forty new fairy tales” by Kate Bernheimer-I enjoyed this book very much, some stories weren’t that great for me while others were amazing!

“All my friends are dead” by Avery Monsen- My blogger friend Dayle had mentioned this book before so I just HAD to read it. It’s very short, like kid book length, so it literally took me a few minutes to read but it was hilarious! Even though death is a morbid topic, this really took morbidity and found humor in it. I will definitely reread this over and over!

“Character Matters: Nine Essential Traits You need to Succeed” by Mark Rutland – This was a Christian book my Dad got and thought I might like to read cause he had heard it was a good book but hadn’t read it yet… wasn’t normally a book I would have bothered to read but it wasn’t too long so I went ahead and read it. I think it had some really good points and I agree with the traits mentioned….I didn’t necessarily agree with everything in the book but I think it was a good read.

“Bella Notte” (Bella Vampires, #1) by Jesse Kimmel-Freeman- Good Young Adult Book…you can find my review on Goodreads and Amazon if you’re interested in knowing more!

What do you think you’ll read next? I have a few I want to read next….”Forever Home” by Kimberly Kinrade(a short story she wrote for her sister’s 15th birthday about a girl and her dog), “Seduced by Power”(3rd in the Seduced Trilogy) also by Kimberly Kinrade when it’s released next week 🙂 AND “Bella Vita”(Bella Vampires, #2) by Jesse Kimmel-Freeman as soon as I can to read and review! I’m sure I will be reading other books too somewhere in there.
