Welcome to my Spotlight Sunday! Every Sunday I put someONE or someTHING I love IN the Spotlight!

Anyone is welcome to use the idea on their own blog and spotlight whoever or whatever THEY choose, but if you do, please use my lovely graphic that my friend made somewhere in your post to show that the idea came from here! And I would love it if you left the link in my comments, so I could go check out what YOU spotlighted!

Happy Easter, first of all!

Today, I am spotlighting the Sugar N’ Spice VoxBox I got last week from Influenster. <—Click to find out more information about this company.

sugarnspice  Above is a picture of what my box looked like when I opened it up. This was my second box from them, the first being the Holiday Vox Box in January, and I was just as excited this time to see what I got to try!

Here are the items and my opinions:

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer Total Moisture

First of all, I use body lotion every once in awhile, but I don’t usually use moisturizer. I’ve been told I SHOULD…I guess since I’m getting older, but it just always seemed like too much work and I am very low maintenance! I read the simple instructions on the back and sprayed this on my legs and arms. It says to spray in circles, but I just sprayed in a line down my arms and legs one by one and then rubbed it in. Really simple and easy and just a minute later, my arms and legs were dry and felt nice and soft. Since then, I’ve used it a few times in getting ready just because I LOVE the smell of it and it really makes my skin so soft! 🙂 Supposedly this stuff sells for $7.99 for a 6.5 oz. can so I hope this stuff lasts awhile because that’s a bit pricey for me, but I’ll keep my eyes out for coupons if I have to, because I am now a fan!

NECTRESSE

I love the concept of this stuff. It’s a completely 100% all natural sweetener made from monk fruit. Unfortunately, I don’t use sweeteners like this. I don’t like tea or coffee and the Vox Box came with a booklet of  few recipes but every one of them has more carbs than what I like to eat for a meal, so..I have to confess I haven’t had a chance to try this. I don’t know if I could just add a bit to plain water or what. My mom uses Splenda all the time, though, and I will probably wind up giving this to her.

Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes

I had never heard of this company before. I love that this product is natural. It’s been awhile since I have regular used a product similar to this and then it was Neutrogena, Noxema, and other brands to help me from breaking out. Again, I am low maintenance so washing my face consists of soap and water instead of a big routine usually. I like that these come individually packaged where you could take some with you and just clean your face any time you want. I think they clean your face really well and it feels good going across my skin, but I don’t know yet overall, if it will end up making my face less oily over time. I do love the simplicity of these and will definitely use them! I also received 5 $2 off coupons for any Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Product and they also carry other products to cleanse and tone so I may have to try out other stuff by them!

Colgate Optic White Regimen: Toothpaste, Mouthwash, and Toothbrush

It took me awhile to try these out because I already had a toothbrush and toothpaste and I like to wait until I NEED something, but I finally tried these out a few days ago. It’s supposed to make your teeth whiter within 5 days…we will see, although, if you want to know, ask, because I don’t like showing off pictures of my crooked teeth…ugh! Before, I was using a regular toothbrush and I DID feel like this one was brushing them better and the tongue and cheek scraper was definitely cleaning my cheeks as I brushed the sides of my teeth! The toothpaste has a really heavy overpowering flavor that was almost too much for me but I’m guessing it has something to do with what helps your teeth get whiter. There’s these little cup looking things in the brush that seem to hold the toothpaste better than a normal brush and really make sure the toothpaste gets everywhere in your mouth, whereas, with my old brush, the toothpaste sits on top until it gets pushed over the side and falls off. I’m not a big mouthwash fan in general….maybe because I have a strong gag reflex, but I gave it a try and again, strong taste that bothered me. I plan to continue using the brush and toothpaste, but not sure if I will use the mouthwash all the time, maybe just once in awhile.

belVita Breakfast Biscuits

The name makes me think of biscuits as in butter biscuits but these were actually big oval shaped cookies. These are full of a lot of good for you stuff and is said to give you energy through the day. Mine were Brown Sugar Cinnamon flavors and they are more carbs than I normally eat in a meal, but I wanted to give them a try. I ended up eating one of them and found it pretty good and filling, too, considering I just ate one. I could see eating all 4 as really filling me up. I gave the rest to my husband and he said they were really good! I want to try their Blueberry flavor, though, cause I’m just not a huge fan of Brown Sugar Cinnamon in general, but I think these are a great on the go breakfast or even snack!

{January 19, 2013}   “Hiding in Sunshine”

I received this book as a free gift from Influenster a few days ago with no real requirement that I had to do anything with it, but I love to read and I love free books so I gave it a go! Based on the cover, I would have probably passed this book by in the store, but I am so glad that I got this as a gift so I could give it a chance, because it was well worth it!

The book, “Hiding in Sunshine” is written by John and Caitlin Stuart, who are Father and Daughter. The Father is into technology, the daughter into writing. The book starts out with this family of four. Gavin and Cindy and their two young daughters, Jessica and Rebekah. We are introduced to their world where the father is pretty much a technological genius who is very well off and their family is pretty happy and secure. Then we see the family get thrust into the Witness Protection Program, by a group of hackers called the Enterprise, who it appears are after him because of his knowledge. They go from living this wealthy lifestyle to a life of being on their own and relatively unknown with media now a danger to them. This book utterly chilled me to the core when I read about how the world started going haywire with these hackers breaking into bank accounts and stock markets and stealing. What chilled me the most was how relatively easy this really would be for people to do. The ending of this book was very satisfying, I will say, and there’s an unbelievable twist I didn’t not see coming!

Even if you’re NOT into suspense or thrillers, I would say give this book a try. It was a stellar work of fiction and I really think this father/daughter team is one to watch in the future!

If you would like to win a copy, Goodreads is currently doing a giveaway where you could win 1 of 3 copies! Just click “giveaway”, scroll down past the description of the book and click enter to win to be entered! Good luck! 🙂

{January 6, 2013}   Influenster/Holiday Vox Box

Influenster is this great site I discovered back in the beginning of December. You rate and review items you already have used before and unlock badges relevant to your lifestyle. Depending on how active you are, you may get chosen to receive different “Vox Boxes” they give out at different times. A Vox Box is basically a box filled with different goodies/freebies that you can try out and do reviews on which then can help your chances at getting more in the future. You have to request an invite from them to join, but I just filled out the form and within the next day, I got the invite!

Shortly after joining Influenster, I was told that I may qualify for their Holiday Vox Box and then I was taken to a survey that I had to fill out to see if I met the requirements. About a week later, I was told my box was on its way! YAY! I was so excited to see what it would have in it!

Well, I got my Holiday Vox Box in a few days before Christmas and to be honest, I haven’t had the change to use much of what I got YET, but I am excited to and just thought I would share with everyone what was in my box! I have pictures of everything I got except for 2 things cause I wait too long to take pictures! LOL

Oh and before I forget, I have the ability to invite 5 people so if anyone is interested and thinks they will actually be active on Influenster, let me know and I’ll try to invite you! 🙂

influensterI apologize for the small photos in advance. I took photos on my cell and sent them to my email. After you receive a Vox Box, you have to go to your Influenster page and check it in! Super simple and easy and there are many other tasks you can CHOOSE to do, one is do a blog post about it! 😉 BUT only checking in is required at first. Then at some point, they will get back to you to do a post experience survey and voila, easy as pie! Of course, the more you do, the more your chances in the future to receive more stuff!

The first item in my box(that I don’t have a picture of) was a Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal cup. All you had to do was add hot water and microwave! My husband actually ate this for breakfast the very next day I got it BEFORE I thought to take a picture! I’m not a fan of oatmeal so I gave it to him and he LOVED it! I would definitely consider purchasing more of these for my husband to eat for breakfast!

lipshine

The second item was a NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine which I will definitely be using! I love the lighter color because I don’t like to look like I have tons of make-up on and I just really love lip gloss. Lipstick tends to dry up and feel ucky to me!

nailsThird was a Kiss Nail Dress which I haven’t used yet but want to try! You just peel, apply and shape and it’s supposed to last up to a week. I’ve been wanting to try these but the price is usually higher than what I like to pay so it’s cool that I’ll get to try them for free. If I had got to choose the design, I probably wouldn’t have picked the leopard one, but hey, it’s not too bad of a design!

Fourth was an EBOOST, which is this powder you add to water that claims to boost your mood, focus AND immunity with natural ingredients and NO crash. Well, I don’t have a picture because I seemed to have temporarily lost the packet! UGH! The flavor it came in was Acai Pomegranate but they also come in Orange, Pink Lemonade and Super Berry. I DO plan to try this sometime whenever I locate the packet! LOL

brushThe Fifth Item was a Goody QuikStyle Brush. Since this thing apparently retails for a whopping $11.99, I would NOT have bought it in stores. I prefer to spend under $5 for a brush. As you can see from the picture, I haven’t used it YET, but I do plan to try it out sometime. It looks like a brush but actually has towel material in between the bristles. This is definitely something I have never seen before! It claims to remove up to 30% of water as you style and is like a towel and brush in one. I have very curly hair and it tangles very easy so I am kind of wary that in brushing my hair, this might get stuck. Anyone else have that problem with certain brushes? Not to mention, my hair tends to dry fast on its own, but I do intend to try it out sometime…..but maybe after I have already brushed my hair out with a regular brush…LOL Just to see if it works!

soleThe sixth item was actually a card with a coupon code from Sole Society to get $25 off your first pair of shoes. It says I am allowed to share it with my friends so the code IS INFLUENSTER25 if any of you are interested! The offer expires January 31st, 2013. I have NOT had a chance to use this yet and this one will really just depend on money for me….After having to buy a new cell phone the other day, my money is pretty tight!

facemaskI also received a Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask in Aloe & Willow. The card that arrived with my box actually said Based on demographics, you may also receive this, so apparently my demo fit to get one! I never really use masks but I think it will be fun to try! At the least, I can scare my husband by wearing it, hehehe! 🙂

So…that was my Holiday Vox Box! Think it sounds pretty neat? Then either get me to invite you OR go to their site and ask for an invite! 🙂

Only a certain number of people qualify AND actually receive each box and they do several every year so I would love to have my friends get one and tell me what they got!

I was just notified recently that since I have a BookClub Badge, I will ALSO be receiving a thriller book from an up and coming author FREE soon that I will be able to read and review! I am thoroughly excited about that!

Have a great day, everyone!
