The book, or rather series, that I’m going to choose may make some of my friends mad at me, but I HAVE read the entire series and was a big fan myself so I feel like I can honestly pick it. “The Twilight Series” by Stephenie Meyer…yep. I admit to reading the books well before the movie came out. I started reading them during a time when I was out of state staying with family and working at a preschool, had run out of books to read,(Heaven forbid!) and saw “Twilight” sitting out. I read the back cover and thought it might be interesting so I read it…and I liked it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I still like the books, but at the same time, I don’t think they are these amazing, stupendously written books. I take them for what they are. Young adult books dealing with paranormal characters, some cheesy romance and teen aspects. I happen to like young adult books. Maybe I’m just being nostalgic, but I like them. I like them the same way I sometimes like what’s called, “Chick Fiction” like Sophie Kinsella or Jane Green. Easy, fun reads that I can get through easily and don’t have to think TOO hard. That being said, ever since the movies have come out, the whole series has taken out the form of this masterfully great series that’s so wonderful and honestly, it’s overrated, to me. I personally don’t like the movies….I think the books were better, but maybe it was just putting the books to movies that made me see HOW teeny bopper they really were in the first place? I just don’t know….I’ve also read “The Hunger Games” AND seen the first movie of that and I still love both of them. Just think the “Twilight” series has been blown up as way bigger than what they really were.

Having said THAT, I do want to clarify that I LOVE Stephenie Meyer’s adult novel, “The Host” and think it IS a great story, way better than the “Twilight” series. I’ve heard bad things about the movie, though, so kind of scared to see what movie people did with it. 😦
