Today’s Writing Prompt: Design

Today write about a design that is inspirational to you!

Interior Design that involves books in anyway is very inspirational to me! I feel a picture is worth more than a thousand words for this prompt, so here is a picture of a wonderful reading nook that greatly inspires me!

Lost 2 more pounds since last week, which puts me at 82 pounds lost! I was born in ’83 so that’s why I put my post title as what it is. 🙂 Getting closer to that 100 pound mark I SO dream of and in about 3 months, I’ll have been on this journey for a year! What an awesome thing if I could hit 100 in just a year! Even if I don’t, I still feel like I have come so far these 9 months and I am so excited for what my future holds!

Before I bid everyone adieu until tomorrow, I want to send out Happy Birthday wishes to my step-mother-in-law Kristine and my newest favorite author, Kimberly Kinrade! Not sure if either of them will see this but I want to wish them both a very Happy Birthday! 🙂

spotlightWelcome to my Spotlight Sunday! Every Sunday I put someONE or someTHING I love IN the Spotlight!

Anyone is welcome to use the idea on their own blog and spotlight whoever or whatever THEY choose, but if you do, please use my lovely graphic that my friend made somewhere in your post to show that the idea came from here! And I would love it if you left the link in my comments, so I could go check out what YOU spotlighted!

Today I want to spotlight a blog that I follow religiously because I have become close to the person who does the blog. She is also responsible for making my “Spotlight Sunday” picture for me. Her blog name is “I Shall be a toad” and her blog is really about thinking differently from the norm and not being afraid of it.

I’ve mentioned this before the first time I did daily posting in 2011, but I came across her blog by first finding a post she did for another site. I was looking up information about tanning because I am 100% against it. Last May, she did another post against tanning and looking out for Melanoma as well. Through her original post on Commentarista, we discovered a commonality on that belief and she told me about her WordPress. Since then, I have been reading and following her blog and it’s been a joy!

I recommend you check out her blog and follow her as well, if you don’t already! Here are 5 posts of hers that I really love and I hope you will agree!

  1. “5 poets who have inspired my blogging”
  2. The Ethics of Time Travel“-Just discovered this post and I wonder if now that she is a big “Doctor Who” fan, if any of this has changed 🙂
  3. Who decides if your child lives?
  4. The Joy of Migraines
  5. Freedom

This is just a small number of posts I love by her and a mixture of the different types. I really love her writing and her past struggles to lose weight is what inspired me to finally just DO it and change my life. I can’t really pinpoint one post for that inspiration cause it was really ALL her posts on trying to lose weight herself along with conversations we had that all inspired me rather than just one of them. I feel a kindred spirit in my blogging friend Dayle and I’m glad to have met her. She is also doing a Post a Day in 2013 just like me and it’s nice to have someone else doing it too to motivate you!

Be sure to check out her blog and let her know that I sent you! 🙂

P.S. Not sure where there’s a #1 and a period under this and I can’t get rid of it! LOL

I was planning on doing a non-reading related post today but then I stumbled onto this 30 Day Reading Challenge that sounded like a lot of fun. The title is misleading, though. You do NOT read a book a day, you simply answer questions about books you have already read, one question a day. Unless they are Children’s books or books under 100 pages, not even I could consistently read a book a day for 30 days….unless I was bed ridden, maybe, but probably not even then if it was a really big book. I think some people get this misconception from me that I must have a ton of free time because I read so much. Well, first of all, there ARE people that read more than me, believe it or not! Second of all, I actually only read 2-3 hours at the MOST per day. Some days I don’t read at all. Rare, but honest. The reason I seem to read so much is because 1) I’m a fast reader and 2)I try to carry a book with me to utilize my free time best. Doctor’s appts., waiting in long lines, waiting on my mom when I take her to run errands, etc. and you’ll find me reading while I wait. I see people all the time sitting idle or just wasting time playing on their phones. Insert a book there instead and it’s surprising how much more time you have to read! 🙂

readingchallI found this through Facebook and anyone else is welcome to do it however they wish!

I know May has 31 days but it’s too late to do this for April, so I will just do it for the first 30 days of May and then on the 31st, I will comment on how much fun I had doing so! For the days that I already have things planned such as Spotlight Sunday, my Weight Loss updates on Monday, WWW Wednesday and 5QFriday, I will answer these questions at the bottom of those posts. On the other days, my posts will be just answering the daily question unless I get inspiration and want to post about other topics as well! As I said, anyone else can do this too or post THEIR answers each day in the comments if you like! I would love to hear your answers as well. I can already see some days answers will be easier than others!

Welcome!

As always, you may answer these questions in your own post or in the comments section!

This 5 Question Friday was brought to you by:

On to the questions!

*The blog I got this from is NOT doing a 5QF this week so I took the liberty of finding a random OLD 5QF that was done way before I started doing them. These are the questions from the May 7th, 2010 post.*

1. Who drives when your family is together, you or your spouse? Me…I love to drive so if I’m in the car with my husband, I’m driving! I think there’s only been maybe once or twice that I’ve let him drive. Once was a couple Christmases ago when I went to the ER for high blood pressure and my Mom told me I shouldn’t be driving home..and I think there might have been another time cause I just was not feeling good at all. Most of the time, I will still drive not feeling well, so I either have to be feeling REALLY horrible or have orders NOT to drive, LOL

2. Are you an introvert or extrovert? I’m an Introvert and proud of it! Introvert doesn’t mean shy. Spending time in huge crowds or with a lot of people just physically and mentally wears me out and actually makes me sick over time. I do better one on one or with smaller groups and when it’s more quiet and less noisy.

3. Are you married to an introvert or extrovert? My husband is an extrovert. Extremely! If areas are too crowded, he will get stressed out, though but that’s because of his bipolar. He will go up to anyone whether he knows them or not and start a conversation, though. He LOVES loud concerts and parties and I’d rather stay home. I think it’s a good mix even though it can be hard for introverts and extroverts to always understand each other. He gets me to do things that I would normally shy away from and I remind him to slow down sometimes. 🙂

4. What’s your favorite type of social media? I’m a Facebook girl! I just love Facebook and most everyone I keep in contact with has one, too so it’s just the best site for me to stay in contact with everyone.

5. What’s your favorite way to “recharge”? This kind of goes along with me being introverted because noisy, chaotic, busy situations wear me out and for ME, recharging is being alone or with just one other person, relaxing, watching a movie or reading. Quieter moments or solitude recharges me.

I just got home from another day of our library’s book sale and waiting in line for 30 minutes followed by an hour of looking through books. The only thoughts in my head right now are 1) Where am I going to put all these books?, 2) I want to read them all and I need more time in a day! lol and 3) I seriously need to clean out my apartment of all the old books I have read and don’t wish to hold on to. It’s hard for me to get rid of books, though. If I didn’t really like the book that much, then it’s pretty easy, BUT if I loved the book, it’s hard. Even if I KNOW I may never get around to reading the book again, I find reasons to keep them around. Like, for example, I have family members that have similar tastes with books and then might want to borrow them! I mean, they have before and I have certainly borrowed myself. I currently have 4 or 5 books I borrowed from my best friend/niece Rebekah that I will give back this next Christmas.

So now my home is overflowing with more books than I may ever read, but tomorrow morning I will be at the library yet again with my mom looking around. If I happen to see any good books I missed, you can bet I will get them. An apartment full of stacks of books is still not enough, I tell you! Just call me a book hoarder…I don’t care!

So…this is the post you get today…all I can think of are books this week so nothing else interesting to blog about came to me as much as I tried for it to! Tomorrow’s the 5QFriday and we’ll see if Saturday brings new inspiration so you don’t get bored of my bookworm posts!

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… • What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next? What are you currently reading? “Wielding a Red Sword”(Book 4 of Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony

What did you recently finish reading? “Love me: A look into a life of Abuse, Sex, Drugs and Bipolar Disorder” by R.W. Swartz

“The Haunted: One Family’s Nightmare” by Robert Curran

What do you think you’ll read next? “Being a Green Mother” (Book 5 of Incarnations of Immortality) by Piers Anthony

{April 23, 2013}   A Minute of Pride

Today’s Writing Prompt: Pride
What have you been able to accomplish so far in 2013 that you are really proud of? I feel really proud that I have been able to continue my weight loss from the last part of 2012 and I’m still losing. When you make a big life change like I have, you sometimes worry if you’re going to be able to stick it out through the long haul and here I am, 9 months in and still going strong! I feel very positive that THIS time is not like the LAST time or any other time. This time is not dieting, this is changing my lifestyle and it’s going to be a permanent change for the better!

A little over a minute, but I felt I needed to to get my feelings across. 🙂

{April 22, 2013}   Now Celebrating Eighty!

Yep, that’s right! I have hit the 80 pound weight loss mark! Woohoo!

I lost 2 more pounds since last week putting me at 288 so that’s 80 pounds gone…only 20 until the 100 pound mark! My husband mentioned paying for me to get highlights in my hair when I get there and I think that would be a perfect reward. New body, new hairdo, right? 🙂 I can’t wait!

In the meantime, today was the first day of the week long annual book sale at the library and I got a ton of books and about 9 magazines for $8…pretty good deal, right? 🙂 Thinking about going back tomorrow sometime to look some more because it was pretty crowded today and there were still a lot of books in boxes that I couldn’t get to. Thursday evening, the library opens up a second room for members (which I am) with even more books for mainly $1 each with 1st edition books at $3 and some others for mixed prices, like coffee table books and rare books, but I usually stick with the $1 ones.

I also went by a local consignment store called “A Hot Mess” that I mentioned the other day winning a prize from. I went and picked it up and I decided to show pictures of what I won here!

bling zebra2 zebra1 turqI ended up giving the necklace and earrings to my mom because she loves turquoise jewelry and I’m not a huge fan so I knew she would love it more than I would and she deserves it! 🙂

I know I added more stuff than weight loss talk, but hey….sometimes there’s not much to say on that topic! See you next week with another update! Have a great day!

spotlight

Books are very much on my mind at the moment as I impatiently await tomorrow and the start of our library’s annual book sale. When I considered things to spotlight, nothing else came to me except for thoughts of books….so I decided to just do a short and simple spotlight today listing some of my favorite books. This is NOT a full list because my brain can’t remember ALL my favorite ones. This is just a short list of 10 of my favorites..which means the favs. that come off the top of my head right now! 🙂

10 Favorite Books!

  1. “Rebecca” by Daphne Du Maurier
  2. “Obsidian Butterfly(Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter,#9) by Laurell K. Hamilton

  8. “Hiding in Sunshine” by John and Caitlin Stuart
  9. “The Stranger Beside me:Ted Bundy” by Ann Rule
  10. “Where the Sidewalk ends” by Shel Silverstein rebecca

So…there you have it! 10 of my Favorite books of all! I linked them all to Goodreads so if any of them sound interesting to you, you can go read some more and add them to your reading lists, if you so choose! 🙂
