On to the questions!

1. What do you enjoy doing the most with your spouse? Just spending time together, watching movies or cuddling 🙂

2. How do you eat your taco? From the top or from the side? From the side and usually with a napkin or something underneath it…I haven’t had a taco since I started my healthier eating though….might be something to try a healthier version of!

3. Have you ever shut off the basement light and ran like a fool because you knew someone was down there and would get you?
I do not have a basement…if I did, I could see myself doing this, though!….I haven’t even BEEN in a basement so I think one might creep me out
4. If you could change one thing about you what would it be and why? I would change what I am already changing and that is my health…..while working on appearance through losing weight but feeling better and being healthier are even more of a reason for me! 🙂

5. What age do you think is appropriate to have the “bird and the bees” talk with your children? I don’t have kids, so mommies don’t get mad if you don’t agree with me here…..I think you could have a condensed version when they are old enough to start asking where babies come from…a simple, short, condensed version and then somewhere near the pre teens probably…do the “official” talk and then do it again when they become a teen and definitely go over how to be safe because while you may want your kid to wait…kids will be kids and it’s more important that if they go against your wishes, they at least don’t end up pregnant or with a disease!

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading? “A Dog’s Journey” by Bruce W. Cameron

What did you recently finish reading? “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins…I checked out the other two at the library yesterday but I also checked out 3 books that were 7 day loans so I have to read THEM first

What do you think you’ll read next? “Graveminder” by Melissa Marr

*Update for August 28,2012- I went to the doctor today for my dizziness that has NOT gotten better and my weight loss was less than my scale. I am now down 23 pounds in total! My doctor suggested I drink a little bit of Gatorade to increase electrolytes and he took me off my blood pressure medication for good! My blood pressure is now good, my heart rate has lowered and my oxygen level is at 100! All from just losing 23 pounds! YAY!*

So last week my doctor told me to just weigh on HIS scale because I had weighed on mine and when I got to the doctor’s, it said I weighed 3 less pounds than what MY scale said! Since I only see him every 2-3 weeks for a check in, I really like to weigh anyways just to see if there’s any changes. This morning, I weighed on mine and it said I was one pound less than what I was at the doctor’s last week so I have either lost ONE pound or FOUR pounds….not sure which to think…. BUT either way, I know I’m still losing so that’s great news! I guess I will set my weight loss tickers for one pound loss for now and next week when I see my doctor I will see how much more I may have lost by then. My health is still doing well except for waking up really dizzy today but I took some medicine for that and am hoping it’s just a rare occasion. In the past, when I’ve woke up like this, it’s gone by the next day and the last time I was dizzy like this was months and months ago so hopefully not a big problem.

On to the questions!

1. If you could have been (could be) any profession you wanted (brains and $$$ no problem) what would it be? Singer/Writer/Actress

2. How often do you clean out your car? Not very often, but I don’t really make much of a mess in my car…it’s my husband who leaves cans and junk in my car…ugh!

3. Do you wish there was such a thing as fashion police or are you deeply relieved? I’m relieved because I wouldn’t want to actually get ticketed for not being “in fashion”…I think I have good taste but it’s hard to find the coolest and cutest things in MY size….sometimes I wish people that wear too tight/revealing clothes everywhere WOULD get ticketed, though…some things are just inappropriate!

4. What’s your go to food/drink/activity when stressed? It USED to be Pasta and Mountain Dew for the food/drink….Now because of how I’m eating, I don’t use food or drink as a way to deal with stress or to reward myself…I think that’s a big part of the problem with me and others who have their weight spiral out of control(to be fair, my thyroid DOES have a strong impact) but the fact that people can use food and drink as a reward or to deal with stress is bad as well. I think activities are better for dealing with stress and getting a new book or outfit, etc. are better as a reward. I try to listen to music or read a book when I’m stressed now…dancing is a good stress relief as well.

5. If you had twins, what would you name them? This is a hard question for me for personal family reasons and I kind of hate that this is on here….I actually DID think of this and had some names picked out for a girl/boy, I would say I have had it picked for almost 5 or 6 years now but I really don’t expect to actually use it…Haylee Marie and Hayden Montgomery

{August 20, 2012}   One month down!

I am down 20 full pounds from my start point! Pretty good results for my first month, don’t you think?!

I talked with my doctor today about my calories and exercising. He told me to exercise a little, not a lot and also said to leave my calories at 1200 a day. I had questions because after exercising, I sometimes feel weak like I’m not getting enough so he told me to drink a LITTLE Gatorade after exercising. I’m guessing this should help me replenish what I’m losing when I exercise. He seemed to think my 20-30 minutes of Zumba or Just Dance on the Wii was a good amount so I guess I will be sticking to that and not rush myself to lasting a full hour on working out yet.

Otherwise, I’m feeling happy still and I don’t necessarily SEE a weight change but I have been told by others that they can tell I have lost weight. I still have a couple more weeks before I check my measurements again and I am hoping my measurements show what people have been saying. 20 pounds down, 30 more to go by Christmas! I really think that’s very possible. 🙂

On to the questions!

1. What’s the one thing you buy every time you walk into the store? I don’t know that there’s anything I buy EVERY TIME I walk into a store….I buy water a lot but not every time..

2. If you had a day all to yourself how would you spend it? Catching up on my DVR, reading, getting on Facebook, blogging, working out, etc.

3. Are you a speed limit driver? If not, over or under? I try to drive THE speed limit or no more than 5 miles over mostly, I know you can still get a ticket for 5 miles over but I heard somewhere once that as long as you’re within  5 miles, they usually don’t bother…..Of course, it depends on the area I’m in…there are smaller surrounding towns around where I live where if you go 1 mile over, they will ticket you, so if I go through there, it’s under!

4. What’s your favorite dessert to make, homemade or from a mix??
I don’t like to bake but if I did, it would probably be something I SHOULD not be eating right now…so I’m going to pass on this! LOL
5. Would you rather have a spider or a mouse scurry across your face (no copping out and saying “neither!!”)? AHHH! I don’t want to answer with either of these cause whichever one I say, watch it actually happen soon! I know it says “no copping out” but I really don’t have a preference here, I see nothing GOOD about either of these things crawling on my face! Ewww! How about I pick a FAKE mouse or spider? HEHE 🙂

THE DIETER’S PRAYER

Author Unknown

Lord, My soul is ripped with riot

Incited by my wicked diet.

“We are what we eat,” said a wise old man,

Lord, if that’s true, I’m a garbage can.

To rise on Judgment Day, it’s plain,

With my present weight, I’ll need a crane.

So grant me strength that I may not fall,

Into the clutches of cholesterol.

May my flesh with carrot-curls be dated,

That my soul may be polyunsaturated

And show me the light that I may bear witness,

To the President’s Council on Physical Fitness,

And at oleomargarine I’ll never mutter,

For the road to Hell is paved with butter.

And cream is cursed; and cake is awful;

And Satan is hiding in every waffle.

Mephistopheles lurks in pepperoni,

The Devil himself in each slice of bologna.

Beelzebub is a chocolate drop,

And Lucifer is a lollipop.

Give me this day my daily slice,

Cut it thin and toast it twice.

I beg upon my dimpled knees,

Deliver me from jujube’s.

And when my days of trial are done,

And my war with malted milk balls won,

Let me stand with Heavenly throng,

In a shining robe–size 30 long.

I can do it Lord, if you’ll show to me,

The virtues of lettuce and celery.

Teach me the evil of mayonnaise,

And of pasta a la Milanese.

And crisp-friend chicken from the South,

Lord, if you love me, shut my mouth!

*This was in a book I’m reading that gives tips and inspiration for losing weight. It’s a humorous Christian poem, but even if you don’t consider yourself one, I think you will still find this funny!*

I started this post out humorous cause the news the scale brought me this morning was not exactly exciting. I gained back a pound since Friday and yes, it’s frustrating, but at the same time I’m not worried like you may think. I have been exercising a lot lately and I know muscle weighs more than fat so I really think that may be the reason. I don’t feel guilty because I can honestly say I haven’t cheated once since I started. I have been fully committed to changing my life for the better and I feel changes in my body whether I see them as fast as I would wish or not. Sure, I would LOVE to drop like 10 pounds a week but that’s not realistic and I know it. Not only is it not realistic but dropping too much too fast can also mean extra skin just hanging there once you lose a lot. I do NOT want that, believe me! So, I am going to continue eating like my doctor said, exercising and just cross my fingers that next Monday, I will see a reduction…even if it’s a small one.

Today is hard on the exercise front. I ended up stuck in Jury Duty ALL day and to be honest, I am exhausted and sleepy and don’t feel like doing anything. I also know I don’t HAVE to because I have the past 4 days and there’s nothing wrong with taking a break. However, I know that if I push through my mind telling me I can’t do it that I will be thankful I DID after it’s done.

So…it’s 7:38 p.m. right now. I ate my last meal a little over an hour ago and I will be fitting in my Just Dance Sweat program sometime tonight before my head hits the pillow. I have a feeling I will be crashing early tonight….but not before I exercise. 🙂

On to the questions!

1. Thunder storms- love them or hate them? It’s a love/hate relationship…I love the sound of the rain and reading a book or sleeping while it’s pouring down AND rain is important so for those reasons I love it…..I hate the loud lightning that scares you and the fact that it sometimes knocks power out…

2. Do your kids get back to school clothes? Not a parent…BUT when I was a kid, I DID get back to school clothes. They weren’t fancy expensive ones though…my mom shopped at Wal-mart, Target and even thrift stores for me, sometimes JCPenney and places like that if they had a special sale. Kids outgrow clothes so it makes sense to get more if they need them…
A lot of my friends got their siblings hand me downs…my siblings were at least 10 years older then me and I was a surprise so the only time I had hand me downs is if someone from church gave us their old clothes

3. Do you golf? Do you watch it? I like Mini Golf LOL…the real Golf? Not so much….Watching golf is boring to me

4. Showers or baths? Showers definitely!

5. What’s the strangest meal you ever ate? Well….when I went to Wales on a missions trip, we ate a LOT of cucumber sandwiches that were given to us…I hate cucumbers and I thought it was weird that they eat so much of them!
Also, we had breakfast there once which was normal sausage, eggs, etc. BUT they had this black pudding stuff that looked strange to me…it turned out to be Blood pudding or Pigs blood….so glad I DIDN’T eat that!
