I’ve heard about Bittersweet goodbyes before, but lately the ones I have had to say have been more bitter than sweet. Maybe I would feel different if all of my nieces and nephews were just a few hours away instead of 16 to 19. It sucks that my great nephews had not seen me in so long that I was like a stranger to them. It hurts even more not being sure how long it will be before I see them again and if they will still remember who I am. I know there are webcams and stuff, but nothing can replace getting to see them in person or give them a hug.
I also really hate that my best friend in this whole world is unable to just come over and hang out with me when we want to see each other. This is why as their van left, I cried and my husband offered me a hug.
Why must the time pass so fast? I wish I had more time with them. It always seems to go by too quickly. 😦

  1. Time does go by fast … when I see my nieces and nephews getting older and becoming awesomely independent I long for their toddler days. I love them so much that it hurts to see them grow up, but they are and I do love watching the changes occur.

    1. Yes, it does go by fast! 😦
I love seeing the changes too, I just wish I could see the changes close up instead of only through pictures. It sucked seeing my youngest great nephew at 5 months old for a few days and then just recently seeing him again at almost 3 years old and for about 5 days! 😦 I just wish my visits were for longer and much more frequent, ya know?

      1. My nieces and nephews live close by, but there are times when I don’t see them for weeks. I think 4 is the best age. They’re still super cute, but they can converse …. 🙂

  2. I’m sorry. At least we do have webcams, facebook…blogs…basically the internet which is more than what our parents had to keep in touch with their loved ones…digital cameras and scanning capabilities what a difference that made as well!

Write fun letters them. My kids get these coloful drawn letters from Grandma, and they just LOVE them! we’ve saved them over the years.

    P.S. Happy New Year!

    1. I am definitely thankful for the Internet and phones, etc. and I do realize it’s a better situation than it would have been years ago, but I still do get a little sad about it. Maybe I should make a monthly goal in my “12 in ’12” to write letters to people…..I think this is such a lost art and I can’t remember the last time I did this! 🙂
Happy New Year to you, too! 🙂
