To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading? “Slaughterhouse Five” by Kurt Vonnegut

What did you recently finish reading? “Valley of the Dolls” by Jaqueline Susann (My opinion of this book is that it was very depressing but maybe that’s because it was realistic in the way it describes actresses lives in New York and in the spotlight and the obsession with prescription drugs…however I did like the book, I was just saddened that there wasn’t really any happy endings…but I guess that’s like life…there’s not always a happy ending)

“Catcher in the Rye”-J.D. Salinger (I can understand why this book was banned in the 40’s…there was a lot of language in the book for that time…but it was really nothing for 2011….maybe even too innocent. It’s not a greatly written book, you’re basically reading every thought a teen boy has over the course of a few days so the writing is from that standpoint…a lot of repetitiveness when speaking dialogue and an easy read but not interesting enough to read a second time, in my honest opinion. The only thing I really got from this book is the irony that while this boy wants to be ” a catcher of kids going through the rye before they fall off a cliff”…in a metaphorical way, the boy could use a catcher to keep him from falling off the cliff that he is headed towards in his life…..oddly enough, I think he finds a sort of “catcher” in a character of the book you might least suspect

What do you think you’ll read next?  Please stop laughing at me: One Woman’s Inspirational True Story by Jodee Blanco (I picked this up off the library shelf because of the title and then when I saw it was a story of a woman who was bullied all through out school, I HAD to check it out because it related to my past) Can’t wait to read it!

Worth the trouble

“He couldn’t see why people made such a fuss about people eating their silly old fruit anyway, but life would be a lot less fun if they didn’t. And there was never an apple, in Adam’s opinion, that wasn’t worth the trouble you got into for eating it.” ~from Good Omens
