My husband informed me a few days ago about some guy predicting the end of the world today. I laughed at this prediction and don’t believe this anymore than I believed 2000 would be the end or that I believe 2012 will bring the end. Admittedly, my Christian beliefs HAVE taught me that these predictions have no merit whatsoever but common sense also tells me that this has no basis in fact either. Well and the fact that this same guy apparently said the world was going to end back in ’93 or ’94 also gives me reason to laugh.

Just my personal belief that no one is going to predict the exact time the world will end, but it’s not just me that feels this way. I asked my friend Tara as we walked into the movies to see Pirates of the Caribbean if she had heard of this world ending proclamation. She very sarcastically answered with a “I had heard that”….obviously she gives this possibility as much probability as I do. Which is none whatsoever.

If YOU believe the world is going to end today, fine by me and I guess I will be proved wrong. It would be a shame though because I just discovered there is going to be yet another Pirates movie and well……talk about a “To be continued” that is never finished. It would be like ALL the shows I watched religiously and fell in love with, only to find out that apparently I was among the very few actually interested in the show and BOOM, the network canceled it. Thanks…almost puts me off the idea of getting interested in anything new. Just when it’s getting all exciting and there’s a huge cliffhanger and you find out, there will be no resolution to that cliffhanger because there is no more show…no more writing…..so I am left forced to use my imagination to make an ending for the show. Maybe I didn’t want to think that hard…Did it ever occur to the networks that maybe they could give the loyal few SOME kind of ending instead of torturing us over and over?

After having this happen to me countless of times, I have just come to the sad conclusion that I must be odd and one of the unique people who like shows that no one else seems to like….What a pity!

Has this ever happened to you? And what are your opinions of the world ending today? Do you think it will, do you even care?

  1. Considering I am off work and lived to tell it – tells me that the world will be here tomorrow too. 🙂

  2. Argh, I still have to watch Pirates 3 on video, so don’t tell me I need to keep up with #4, expecting #5!

The sky is still above my head so far today, so we may be OK. Does anybody know what time the world is supposed to be over, and what time zone? 😉

  3. Hey Sharon. How have you been lately. I came by because I have been neglecting my blog visitations. You are so kind to “like” my posts religiously and I used to purpose to visit ten new blogs everyday in addition to those who regularly visit mine. Charge it to the clock and not my heart, please.

The Bible, which I have been learning about lately – and learning some things I’ve assumed about Christians are wrong; clearly states that no one knows the exact time Jesus will return. In fact Jesus Himself won’t know until the Father tells Him it’s time. Wow, an all knowing God able to keep something from Himself!

As for TV and movies… I shouldn’t really respond to this because I’m still considering the loss of 24 on Fox and Undercovers on NBC. There are so many Fox shows deserving of cancellation!

The ending of this seasons NCIS looked serious. Are you a fan? As with other movies, I think I will wait for the DVD although I believe The Pirate series is worthy of theater watching. Good post.

    1. I love the Pirates movies as I LOVE Johnny Depp!
Yes, I knew about the Bible saying no man can know the day or hour of his return which is why I could joke about the guy who predicted the end…and why I can joke about the 2012 prediction…..because I feel very secure in my knowledge that no one CAN possibly know. As far as Christians go, they are truly as diverse as any other religion or even atheists, if you want to call that a non religion, I suppose. I’m not a fan of stereotypes in the least which is why I hate when people try to fit me or anyone else in a box by saying if you’re this or that, you’re all the same. There’s more to a person than any one label. : )
I never have really watched NCIS or any law shows…not sure why….Maybe because it’s one of the shows that made it more than one season and my luck seems to be watching shows that get cancelled LOL
